"LET ART SHINE"
Although she had an early interest in drafting and design, Tracy Sorensen discovered later in life that her true passion was to be in the less measured art forms. Returning to college at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington after having her children, Tracy initially began as a Film Production Major. However, she discovered her true interest was in creating art and changed her major to Studio Art. Tracy was awarded the UNCW Kathleen P. Bryan Art and Theater Scholarship in 2002, and graduated with honors from UNCW in 2004. She has participated in numerous juried art shows and has received various awards for her work.
Tracy taught adult education art classes at Coastal Carolina Community College and at Onslow County Senior Centers. She currently is in her fourth year as an art educator of elementary school students in Onslow County, NC. Tracy enjoys volunteering and has participated in projects such as assisting with the Minnie Evans Memorial Garden Project at Airlie Gardens, NC, making and donating bowls for the Empty Bowls Project, organizing an art donation for the Foundation for Hospice Onslow County, and annual participation in the Relay for Life.
Tracy resides in Holly Ridge, N.C. with her four children. Tracy’s work can also be seen at The Trading Post in Sneads Ferry, NC.
